The Best Countryside Scenic Drives
We mean it when we say Yates County is the true heart of the Finger Lakes. Many wonderful neighboring areas and attractions are just a short drive away. So, hop in the car, roll down the windows and drive!
Route 364 – Penn Yan to Potter > Middlesex along Route 245
This countryside road is a great drive to get a taste of thriving Mennonite farms and life. Take this route to get to Naples for great hiking and the Canandaigua Lake area.
Route 54A – Penn Yan to Hammondsport
You can drive all around “The Crooked Lake” in an hour! Dotted with wineries, lakeshore cottages and country roads. Be sure to look for roadside stands for produce and flowers along the way. Hammondsport is noted for one of the coolest small towns in America!
Route 54 — Penn Yan to Dresden
This road follows the Keuka Outlet Trail that connects Keuka to Seneca Lake. A breathtaking drive of farmscapes especially beautiful during fall foliage and the springtime. There are two ice cream stands nearby: Spotted Duck and Mr. Twistees.
Route 14 along Seneca Lake
Lush vineyards, working farms and world-class wineries along the west side of sparkling Seneca Lake. The southern tip of the lake on this route will lead you into the charming town of Watkins Glen.
Italy Valley Road
A mecca for the outdoor adventurist who appreciates open air and wide open spaces! This remote road will lead you to miles of forests and hiking opportunities. A featured access point is Italy Hill State Forest, part of the Finger Lakes Trail.
