In the Snow
Located between Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake, The Keuka Outlet Trail has a variety of entertainment perfect for snow lovers. Go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing between sunrise and sunset on the seven miles of wooded trail bordering the outlet. You are also welcome to go snowmobiling on the Friends’ section of the trail. The two waterfalls along the trail are stunning with fresh snow, making a perfect backdrop during a snowy outing.
With just a short trip down the road, you can visit Keuka Lake State Park. There are designated areas for hunting with regulations, as well as trails to enjoy.
This winter, the Saunders Finger Lakes Museum, situated in Branchport, invites you to experience the joy of snowshoeing. The Museum is offering self-guided snowshoe adventures available through their website. Participants can conveniently pick up snowshoes on Friday and return them by Monday, ensuring a delightful long weekend of snowy exploration suitable for people of all ages. This weekend pop-up snowshoeing experience is available January 6-March 16.
If you’re looking to explore the craft beverage scene this winter, visit one of Yates County’s many wineries, breweries, or distilleries!
The Keuka Lake Wine Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail both have an incredible variety of wineries with stunning views and delectable menu items. Winter offers quieter tasting rooms and a more intimate experience with the winemakers. But be sure to check them out before you go, as many establishments have different seasonal hours. Local Tip: Give a local ice wine a try! These decadent dessert wines were made in the cold!

When the water freezes over, you are welcome to head out to see what you can catch! Be sure to check out the Department of Environmental Conservation before you go to see the latest fishing rules and regulations and to get a temporary fishing license if you need one. Local Tip: The weekend of Presidents Day in February is a free fishing period in New York State.
